Beware of Covid-19 Scams

Dear Wentworth Residents,

Federal and State agencies have seen an influx in COVID-19 scams. Some are fake organizations purporting to be reputable fund raisers attempting to solicit monies from people claiming to do so to assist first responders and or nurses or doctors.

Others state that they are trying to raise monies to help school children who are not sure where their next meal will be coming from, and others, are scams claiming to have access to an antidote or vaccine that has proven successful in other countries, but, has not yet been approved in the United States.

Please do not fall victim to these scams. They are run by criminals who are attempting to capitalize on the fears of people who may be unsure of the outcome of COVID-19, or, they attempt to appeal to the people who feel genuine compassion for the children and less fortunate who have been affected by COVID-19.

If you are not absolutely sure about the organization, or, the people contacting you, please, air on the side of caution and do not donate or contribute to them, and as always, please do not give out any personal private information.

As your Chief of Police I want to assure you that your department heads, your state agencies, and our federal partners, are working together collectively on your behalf. Please be safe, take care of one another, and as always, "Keep the Faith", we will navigate through this together.

Thank You,

Chief Wallace Trott
Wentworth Police Department
