IRS Phone Scam Warning

                                                                IRS PHONE SCAMS

Wentworth Residents,

Please note that we have received a number of calls from Wentworth Residents reporting that they have been called, or received phone messages, from person(s) alleging to be from the IRS. These people then proceed to inform you that unless you contact them an arrest warrant will be issued for your arrest.

Other similar calls will state that your Social Security number has been used or compromised and that they need to speak with you in order to assist you with the problem.

THESE CALLS ARE  PART OF A PHONE SCAM DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION

Hang up on the callers, or, tell them to contact your local police department and file the report with them because you have been made aware of phone scams such as this and you will not be discussing anything over the phone.

These people can be very persistent and very convincing. Please do not fall for their scam. The IRS does not conduct business such as this over the phone. They do so by U.S. Mail and then in person.

Thank you,

Chief Wallace Trott
